PrestaShop Import CSV Gotchas!

You are here: Home / Web Design & Development / Ecommerce / PrestaShop / PrestaShop Import CSV Gotchas!

Here’s a list of the main ‘gotchas’ we’ve come across when creating customers’ PrestaShop import CSV files.

  1. Category IDs must begin from ‘2’ID 1 is reserved for the ‘Home’ category in PrestaShop. You will compromise the integrity of your database and you will produce strange behaviours in your software if you attempt to associate ID 1 with a category in your import file.
  2. Products included in the Home categoryIt is possible to associate a product with several categories in your import CSV. If you include ID 1 in the list of categories your product is associated with, it will be included as a ‘featured product’ on your home page. However, in this case the product’s default category will be set to ‘Home’. This is not desirable in terms of compatibility with the products category module which will render in unexepected ways on product pages with the default category set to home.
